Getting started

What does Markupmanager do?

Markupmanager connects to your point-of-sale system, syncs your catalog and order history, and trains demand-forecasting models on your own sales. It then produces price recommendations for each item. You review every recommendation and choose which ones to publish back to your live POS catalog — nothing is changed automatically.

How do I set up my account?
  • Sign up with your email address.
  • Choose your POS provider (Square or Clover) and connect it. Authorization happens on your POS provider's own secure sign-in page.
  • We sync your catalog and recent order history — this usually takes a few minutes.
  • Run your first pricing model from the Preferences page and review the recommendations on your dashboard.
Can I try it before connecting my POS?

Yes. The interactive demo runs on realistic sample data and needs no account and no POS connection.

Connecting your POS

Which point-of-sale systems are supported?

Square and Clover. Everything after the initial sync works the same way regardless of which one you use.

What access does Markupmanager request?

For Clover:

  • Inventory (read) — items, item groups, categories, and current prices
  • Orders (read) — past orders, line items, discounts, and tax rates, used to build demand forecasts
  • Merchant (read) — business name, currency, and location
  • Inventory (write) — used only to update an item's price, and only after you explicitly confirm that specific change in the app

For Square: read access to orders, payments, catalog, and merchant profile, plus write access to catalog item prices. Full detail is in our Privacy Policy.

Does Markupmanager see my POS password?

No. You sign in on your POS provider's own page. We only ever receive the access token that page issues, which is limited to the permissions listed above.

My POS connection stopped working. What do I do?

Clover access tokens expire and occasionally need to be re-established. Go to the Preferences page and reconnect Clover. If that doesn't resolve it, email hello@markupmanager.com with your business name and we'll investigate.

Your data & security

How is my data protected?

Data is encrypted in transit (TLS), and the database connection requires a verified certificate. The access tokens that authorize our connection to your POS account are additionally encrypted at the application layer (AES-256-GCM) before being stored, so they can't be read from a database backup without a separately held key. We never store card numbers or process payments.

Is my data used to help other businesses?

No. One merchant's data is never used to inform another merchant's recommendations, and we never sell or rent your data.

Pricing recommendations

How are the recommendations calculated?

Each recommendation is based on your own historical sales, demand-forecasting models trained on that history, and — where available — the price range of comparable items at nearby businesses. They're decision support, not a guarantee of any specific revenue or profit outcome. You keep full control of every price.

Will Markupmanager change my prices automatically?

No. A price is only written to your POS catalog when you review that specific change and confirm it in the app.

Billing

How much does it cost?

Current plans and pricing are shown on the pricing section of our home page and at the time of purchase. New accounts include a free first pricing run so you can see the output before paying.

How do I cancel?

You can cancel from your account settings at any time, or email hello@markupmanager.com. See our Terms of Service for refund terms.

Disconnecting & deleting data

How do I disconnect my POS?

You can disconnect at any time from any of:

  • the Preferences page in Markupmanager
  • uninstalling Markupmanager from your Clover dashboard (or revoking access in your Square Developer dashboard)

On disconnection we revoke and delete the stored access tokens immediately and stop accessing your POS account. The catalog and order data we had already synced is deleted automatically 30 days later — the window exists so an accidental disconnect can be undone by reconnecting.

How do I delete my account and all my data?

Delete your account from your account settings, or email hello@markupmanager.com. We delete your personal information and all associated business data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law. Full detail is in our Privacy Policy.
